The cost of pharmaceuticals has the income of intermediaries – insurance companies, suppliers, wholesalers and pharmacies. Published in the journal Health Affairs says the work that in the US the share of intermediaries in the price of drugs as high as 41%, says “Remedium” with reference to the Pharma Letter.
Purchase price that is set on original products (before discounts) is growing annually by 10%, but not all the money goes to the company-the manufacturer, the greater part is distributed to intermediaries involved in the distribution system PM. In this case the cost of drugs after application of all discounts grows very slowly: for example, in 2015, it grew by only 2.8%.
The authors estimate that the value of the hypothetical original HP equal to $ 100, the manufacturer will receive only $ 58: this $ 17 was spent on the production of the drug, and $ 41 for all other costs (advertising and research purposes, and also on account of the net income). From $ 100 costs expense net income leaves only $ 23 – 15 in the profit of the manufacturer, $ 8 – the income of the intermediaries.
According to the findings of researchers, sales of original pharmaceuticals, the most profitable production companies, while intermediaries gain more from the sale of generics.
